SE Corner of Blackstone & Gettysburg Redevelopment Plan

Fresno, CA

The new City of Fresno’s General Plan embraces a number of forward thinking strategies. One such strategy is the transformation of existing thoroughfares that have experienced degradation over time, into thriving, pedestrian friendly, corridors that support high density, mixed use, transit oriented development as a means to limit sphere of influence expansion. Urban Diversity Design, Paul Halajian Architects, and Darden Architects together collaborated on three distinct prototype schemes on Blackstone Avenue, one of the major thoroughfares, to demonstrate to the planning, building and development community creative ways in which the General Plan goals could be achieved by transforming a typical “big box” site near one of the future BRT stations to a vibrant mixed-use transit oriented neighborhood.
