URBAN Diversity Design (UDD) is a Fresno-based design and planning firm that offers services in a broad range of urban design and community engagement projects. UDD was founded in January 2010, focusing on Smart Growth, Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and sustainable planning strategies. UDD’s core mission is to support the vision toward livable and diverse neighborhoods in communities across the Central Valley, where equity, sense of place, access and multigenerational diversity is celebrated. Corridor revitalization, Complete Street design, downtown master planning, Park and green space master planning, public plaza revitalization, Mixed-use and Transit Oriented Development, and adopted reuse are some of the projects that UDD has been involved with. UDD provides a range of services from urban design, community engagement, workshop facilitation, and project management.

Reversing the paradigm of sprawl through sustainable and innovative planning principles is a core value at UDD. We believe that the process of transforming our auto-dominated communities into thriving pedestrian-oriented environments is essential to the health and betterment of the Valley. To responsively solve the problems facing a particular community we study the macro issues – at the City level – down to the micro issues – at the neighborhood level. In any planning and urban design project community inputs provide important tools, and our role is to facilitate the community engagement at all the stages of the planning. We believe proposed interwoven ons in any community must be done with the community not for the community, and they must acknowledge the needs of the citizenry, natural and cultural resources, realities of the existing urban fabric, and community character and history.
